Bmw E46 M3 VS 330ci What one should I invest in?

I'm looking into getting a BMW. I've come down to two models. The e46 M3, and the 330CI.

If I get an M3 I wont have much option in customzing it.

If I get then 330CI (which is much cheaper) I'll be able to get a body kit, rims, super charger, exhaust system and lower it. Basically it will (look) like an M3, but wont have the power.

What should I do?

get the M3 as it is…
or get the 330 Ci and also don’t invest more money into it. It is fast enough and looks amazing. I had a 2001 330 Ci and it has been my favorite car ever. No need to modify it at all. But if you’re so into performance.. well get the M3. I wouldn’t. for performance, get a Porsche or a M5.

good luck and have fun shopping

If your idea for the 330ci is to throw a bunch of money into it to make it look like an M3 with less power, then I highly suggest just starting out with the M3. It will save you lots of time, money, and you will already start with the power you are looking for.

I also suggest the 335i with the twin turbo 300hp engine.

go with the M3… dinan has losts of aftermarket parts.. look at what tuners have to offer for M class bmw’s…

The M3, I had a 330i and a m3. the m3 drives SO MUCH BETTER. The M3 will also be worth more when you’re selling it, the rims and exhaust won’t be taken into account when you sell the 330ci, so the body kit, rims and so on will basically go down the drain.

Why would you want to have a car that LOOKS like an M3, but CAN’T perform like an M3?
Imagine the feeling you’re going to have every time an M3 pulls up next to you at a red light? You’ll look nice, but always know inside it ain’t the same.

If you haven’t driven an M3 then please give that to yourself and it will answer your question for you.

The M3 is not just about looks. Obviously the horsepower differences tell the tale on paper, but let me assure you that nothing compares to the experience of feeling those numbers in your chest and stomach as you prepare to and then Launch the M3.

I’m telling you this from experience because I have a 325 that is "chipped" and "cold air intake" that is pushing the same hp as the 330 & I have an M3.

The 325 is a fast car and I smoked most of the slammed japanese cars out there. The M3 is just an UNBELIEVABLE piece of machinery. The power is amazing and the handling (which you didn’t mention in your "additions" to your 330) is beyond anything I’ve ever driven. I’ve taken off ramp turns at twice the speed of what the sign says without even a chirp from the tires and it was like a sunday stroll at 80mph in a sharp turn.

Well I’ll quit here cuz I could go on for a long time, but hopefully I’ve helped you understand the difference, but please go drive one yourself or come on over and we’ll drive mine. :)
