can an e46 engine fit in a 1995 m3?

even the csl lightweight? any e36 models it won't fit in?

    It would require a ton of modifications, and quite a bit of custom fabrication. Not only is the e46 engine larger, but the wiring alone would take a long time to switch over. There are entirely new electircal components. The 95 M3 was OBDI, while anything after that was OBDII, which would present monumental obsticles. But, it could be done, but it would be one hell of a project! You should browse BMW forums and look for a similiar project.

    yes. any engine will fit in any car, it’s only a question of how much hassle and money it will take. s54 swaps have been done, however with the price of a used s54 in good condition in the 6-10k dollar range, you would see better results just tuning what you have. 3k in mods will have your engine at s54 horsepower levels.
