Do 18 inch wheels provide a more comfortable ride compared to 19 inch wheels?

I have a 2005 BMW M3 E46 with the 19 inch wheels. The ride on my car is really stiff and the bumps travel through the car and make it quite harsh on passengers. My question is would 18 wheels with a greater tire profile make it a noticeably more comfortable ride?

    The 18" wheels would provide a better ride if coupled with touring tires instead of sport tires.

    Smaller wheels and higher profile tires will definitely make the ride quieter and a little softer.
