e46 Brake Parts
No question that one of the the most common parts that get replaced on M3's or any BMW for that matter is the brake parts. Usually on most cars the brake pads get replaced. However, on the M Cars, it is very common to get new rotors too. The work is easy and doesn't take too long.
Expect to replace your brakes more often if you drive it like you stole it. Some people are fine doing the re and re work themselves and there's lots of documentation online to help you with DIY brake repair for your BMW. Don't get too caught up in the new to have OEM parts installed. Talk to Dave Zeckhausen at Zechausen Brakes. He's awesome and knows BMW brakes like nobody's business.

Your brake pads are what cause most of the friction surfaces that connect with the rotors which allow your car to stop. In addition to the usually pads+rotors parts - there is also some very strong interest in the performance community to upgrade other brake parts like brake lines - stainless steel is a very common option as is new calipers.
