I am thinking about buying a BMW M3 E46?

If it has an extended warranty, does that cover Inspections I and II? Someone told me that the majority of M3's out there are being sold because inspection II is coming up.
I never said it was too much, I am asking if the inspection is covered, I wonder why people can't read.

I understand your frustration. It sometimes feels as though people don’t read the question. This guy also seems like he’s smoking something. If he only has 19,000 miles on his car, all those inspections are free, unless he’s driving so few miles that its over 4 years old.

Since you are talking about an extended warranty, I suspect you are over those mileage and year thresholds. If that’s the case, your extended warranty does not cover regular maintenance, so your Inspections are your responsibility.

That assumes the previous owner did not also extend the maintenance contract. When we bought my wife’s E46 325iT, we did. It cost more than the extended warranty, but covers inspections and service. If the car is a Certified Used BMW, you can still do that.

Good luck. I know you’ll enjoy the car if you buy it!

If you can’t afford the 1600.00 USD for inspection II then I suggest you don’t buy the car. I own one, and I don’t drive it much but I did just put new tires on it and that cost me 800 alone. I only have 19k miles on the car, so I haven’t had to do the inspection yet, but I know that I have spent more on other stuff with the car that has cost more then that.

If you think about it realistically, more of the cars are probably coming off of lease – not being traded in due to a 1600 dolar bill. I own mine, so I don’t ever have to give it back and I never would because I love it to death.

Why don’t you look at like say an S4, or a WRX, they are cheaper to maintain.

But like I said – I love mine, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world – so I suggest you pony up and get it.

No the warranty will not cover the inspections themselves , but may cover any major part that may need replaced . BMW is expensive to maintain properly , but worth it . Maybe learn how to do some of the work yourself and save a few hundred bucks here and there .

The majority of E46 M3s are being sold because the E92 M3 is coming soon. The same thing happened when the new V10 E60 M5 came out.

As for the extended warranty or CPO car. It does not cover Inspection II.
