is supercharging my BMW E46 M3 worth it?
Its a 2004 6-speed manual, convertible, and everything is stock with 50k miles on it. Is supercharging it worth it? My car fines great, will the supercharger decrease engine life by a lot or is there something else i could that will give me the same amount of power. I also love the sound that superchargers make.

The E46 M3 is good as it is. Don’t waste your money on it. Save for the new one instead. The new one is so much better 402 hp V8. The interior has gotten so much better.
dont mess with your car , bmw spends millions designing everything to work and once you start messing with it , it will be really expensive to get it to work right.
There are a few things to take into account here:
1. Service. Are you the original owner? If yes, have you serviced it regularly and maintained the warranty up to this point? If no, did the previous owner? Superchargers are hard on engines and if the service was neglected then you might be causing more problems than you want on a car that fine running order.
2. How long do you plan on keeping this car? If its only going to be a little while longer than a definite no. The only people who are going to be interested in an M3 with a supercharger and average miles is an enthusiast and most likely you will never get even half back what you put into it.
Which brings me to the last point:
3. Cost. I am assuming that you have done some research into supercharging your BMW and have noticed the outrageous cost associated with it. This is one item that you don’t want to go cheap on for obvious reasons. Fort the supercharger and all parts your looking somewhere in the $8k-10k range, which does not include installation, and finding a good shop to do this kind of install isn’t cheap. Then you have to upgrade the ecu and the cooling system. And on top of that you have to run premium fuel, will probably go through tires faster, and possibly a new clutch at some point.
There really isn’t any other options to increase power in the E46, because bmw did that for us already. Your best bet would be to opt for the new turbo M3, or possibly go with an M5 or M6, or you could look at some other type of car with a factory turbo or supercharger and get into tunning it.
