What is the correct voltage coming from alternator on BMW E46 M3?

Measuring from the two-pin connector on the alternator, what is the correct voltage we should be reading on an E46 M3?

    12.8 to 13.8

    14.4 volts

    Both answers are correct. When charging it can be anything up to 14.4 after that it may over charge battery. It can run as low as 11 in some cases but not for long. That number by the way is for any 12volt car. The AMP’s is what is different in most cars your car should have an 120 amp alternator on it.
