    M3 would be a $60,000 – $70,000 car.(after options and tax)
Usually, to be safe you shouldn’t be spending half of your annual income on a car. But if you want to stretch and be stingy in other areas, you can purchase one for 2/3 of your income.
Leasing it would be better, if you can get tax cuts and want to change it in few years.

In general, I would say minimum $100,000. If you make $150,000, you can comfortably purchase it.

Income isn’t the issue to getting a car. If you have the cash, buy it. But if you want to lease or finance it, it’s all about your ability to repay. Your credit history needs to be excellent in today’s economy.

well there is no real answer for this. it varies greatly on how you spend your income. and also the m3 varies greatly are you talking about a brand-new one or an old one. if you are talking about an new one, then generally you need a high income because they will set you back at least 60k out the door, and they can easily go higher with options. but like i said generally speaking it is an expensive car to buy so you need a high income.
