Why Dose The US Always Get The Worst Deal On Cars?
eg.
Honda Civic 92-95
US- Si, 1.6 SOHC Vtec (125bhp)
EU- VTi, 1.6 DOHC Vtec (160bhp)
J- SiR II, 1.6 DOHC Vtec (170bhp)
Subaru Impreza Sti 98
US- 2.5RS (165bhp)
EU- 2.0 P1 (280bhp)
j- 2.2 22b (289bhp)
BMW M3 92-98
EU- 3.2 (321bhp)
US- 3.2 (240bhp)
the list goes on and they all have the US model at the bottom

It does seem you do miss out on a lot of great cars although many Japanese models are sold here in the UK as Grey imports the Skyline was only sold in very very few numbers here and only as the GTR model.
Its the same with other models we make our numbers up with imports which you can also do in the US on many of the cars but its the overall cost on an older car which is unfair to you guys.
Also some versions you do get seem to have a smaller engine and alot less power then other countries with the same model of car.
But as said strict rules where made to make it hard for imports to take the US market, safety wise is a not always true as such as my car has really modern safety features and electronic systems in place as well as airbags and a cat added for emissions.
because of our CAFE and CARB emissions standards and safety requirements.
You’d think so. But, I think the insurance companies have alot to do with it. What chaps my fanny is there are so many little cars avalible in Europe that have diesel engines in them & we can’t get hardly any of them. I really want a Mazda 3 with a diesel, but they won’t import one. And yes, it does meet the emissions standards last time I checked.
IMHO, it is because the US restricts the sale of cars that do not meet very specific standards for emission, safety and other arbitrary standards that have been enacted over the years.
These standards, and the precedent for them, come from the US automakers themselves as a way to stem the tide of imports in the 70’s
Now these same restrictions are coming back to roost making the US manufacturers unable to sell their best cars inside the US market.
